State Farm Not so Neighborly to the Gulf Regions

Houston, TX (February 23, 2012) – If you are with State Farm and you own a home in the Houston, Gulf Coast region you may be surprised by a letter in the mail regarding your Homeowners Insurance.  They are beginning to notify their longtime customers that they will no longer be renewing their homeowner’s policies.  Effective May 1st homeowners in the Gulf Coast region including; Orange, Jefferson, Chambers, Galveston & Brazoria counties will no longer be able to renew or buy Homeowners Insurance with State Farm, because of the proximity to the Gulf.

An inside source at State Farm has quoted, “The risk of a Hurricane coming is too high, and they do not have the money to pay out.”  They are also not writing for Harris county North West of highway 59.  Texas has the most policies for Homeowners written by State Farm than any other state.

State Farm still recommends that these customers keep their Auto Insurance with the company, but it is unlikely that the State Farm customers will.  Auto Insurance Discounters would like to help out residents of the Gulf Coast region by shopping carriers who will provide them with Homeowners Insurance, and find them the lowest possible rates to cover their homes.  Auto Insurance Discounters will also find rates for any other insurance needs, like; Auto, Windstorm, Recreational Vehicles and even Life Insurance.  To find out what all Auto Insurance Discounters can cover please visit their website at
www.789auto.com or call 713-789-AUTO (2886).

Even though most State Farm customers only had minor damage from Hurricanes Rita and Ike, State Farm is making all the Gulf Coast region customers suffer, by having to look for new insurance.  Auto Insurance Discounters would like to let State Farm customers know that it doesn’t have to be an ordeal.  Please call Auto Insurance Discounters, and let them help you today.  They will shop top insurance carriers for all of your insurance needs to you don’t have to take time out of your busy schedule to do so.

The Texas Department of Insurance is looking into this action to verify that State Farm is not violating the State Law.  They are also dropping residents in the coastal area in Florida.  Don’t let State Farm treat you like a number.  Call someone who is local, and an independent agent; call Auto Insurance Discounters at 713-789-AUTO (2886).

Limits of Liability Changed

Did you know that the state minimum limits of liability changed effective January 1, 2011? The state minimum limits of liability was $25,000 bodily injury per person, $50,000 bodily injury per accident and $25,000 property damage per accident.  Effective January 1, 2011, the state minimum limits increased to $30,000 bodily injury per person, $60,000 bodily injury per accident & $25,000 property damage per accident.

What does this mean to you?  If you are currently in the middle of your policy period, your liability limits will automatically increase to the higher state minimum limits with no increase in premium for this policy term.  However, at renewal there may be an increase in premium due to this.  If you are starting a new policy after January 1, 2011, your policy will be issued with those higher limits.

Auto Insurance Discounters suggests that you carry higher than the state minimum limits of liability.  With the rising costs of medical expenses and the cost to repair property damages, the state minimum limits may not be enough to cover you in the event of an accident which would leave you liable for any unpaid damages.
